Designing For Retention In The Competitive Philippine Gaming Market
The Challenge: Improving user retention in a highly competitive gaming market, where players can easily switch to competitors. Our goal was to enhance engagement, optimize the user journey, and ensure players chose to stay and play within the Luckyi ecosystem.

My Approach:
To solve the retention problem, I first imagined what an ideal Luckyi session should feel like for a player: visually exciting, effortless to start, and rewarding to come back to. From that vision, three core concepts shaped the solution:
Removing Friction – Streamlining login and payment flows
Building Habit Loops – Gamifying with progress tracking and milestones
Designing for Emotion – Creating a lively, casino-like interface

/ Design
Challenge | Design Solution |
|---|---|
Low Engagement, High Competition | The gaming market is crowded, and players can easily switch platforms. I designed visually engaging UI elements and interactive components that evoked the energy of a live casino, making Luckyi feel like an active environment players wanted to return to. |
Friction in Critical Flows | Any friction in login or payment could cause players to drop off and move to competitors. I streamlined these journeys to be intuitive and low-effort, reducing steps and cognitive load so players could quickly sign in, deposit, and start playing. |
Retaining Players Over Time | One-time play did not guarantee long-term retention. I incorporated gamified elements such as progress trackers and rewarding milestones so users could see their growth, feel rewarded for continued play, and stay motivated to remain on the platform. |

/ Result
Outcome:
More time spent on platform – The livelier, more immersive interface encouraged players to stay longer in sessions and explore additional games instead of bouncing early.
Reduced drop-offs in key flows – Streamlined login and payment journeys lowered friction at critical steps, helping more players successfully log in, deposit, and return to play.
Stronger user retention signals – Gamified elements like progress tracking and milestone rewards reinforced a sense of progression, supporting repeat visits and aligning with retention-focused best practices.
Improved perceived trust and usability – A smoother overall experience—from onboarding to cash-in—helped position Luckyi as a reliable, easy-to-use platform in the crowded PAGCOR gaming landscape.
